I started a post a few days back after returning home from Florida. Since then, some horrible events have occurred. I'm not sure what to say exactly, but that it has shaken both J and I considerably. It is difficult to see images of familar places and hear news anchors speak familar names in connection with such tragedy. Virginia Tech is a place we both love and consider a home of sorts. It is somewhere we created memories and made friends that will last a lifetime. To have the nation look at our beloved Blacksburg with such horror is strange and unerving. In addition, being new parents, the thought of those who have lost a child is unbearable. I can't begin to imagine what familes must be going through. Being so far from Virginia, I'm glad J and I have each other to look to for comfort and understanding. I know many Hokies in similar circumstances may feel isolated, not being able to express thier grief with others who they feel understand. So if you know a Hokie...

I will post pictures from our trip shortly...

This Hokie's Mom also proudly dressed in maroon and orange today. It was of course a sad day but also inspiring to see all of the Hokie spirit. All of the bonding and banding together. The community has so much heart and spirit. This is a blow, but you will come out the other side stronger and wiser. My heart goes out to all whose lives have been changed by this event. Parents that had so much hope for their children. Friends whose innocense has been taken away. May we all walk away from this grateful for all we have and determined not to take any moment for granted. Live our lives to the fullest and making sure those we love know it.
