While it lasts.

I've been feeling like autumn has been getting away from us. When it hasn't been raining, it's been really cold. Like WINTER cold, not fall cold. I've been having flashbacks to last year, when I missed it completely. I was either so pregnant I couldn't move or laid up in bed recovering from Joe's birth. When I finally got up and about, a windstorm came and blew every leaf off the trees. It was gone.

Yesterday, it seemed to make a reappearance. The air was crisp and the sky a beautiful happy blue.

After getting Joe down for his morning nap, I grabbed Sam for a little expedition through the neighborhood.

They say our foliage is past peak in Northern Vermont, but since we live in the valley, we lag behind a bit. It is beautiful.

I'm hoping to get out a bit more this week, before it's all gone and we're left with spindly grey branches and frost burned gardens, the boring and depressing spell before the snow arrives. It's hard with all the projects on the table right now. Upholstering the chair (fabric arrived Friday!), robot costume construction, my winter sweater to knit, and about ten others I don't remember at the moment. But while the kids are awake, I can't really do any of those anyway, so the plan is to get us out and enjoy.

After all, it won't be long before winter will keep us in. gulp.

Great pictures! It hardly seems possible that October is almost over!
