Things are getting back to normal around here. The past week was as rough one. Luckily the media is beginning to talk about other things, and we had a nice weekend with friends who came to stay...a much appreciated distraction. Thanks to everyone who has called and emailed and offered words of comfort.

So, with that said, it's on to more uplifting things! I would like to share some pictures from our trip to Florida. The wedding was really lovely. Danielle made a beautiful bride and Ken, a very handsome groom.

They lucked out and got one of the few sunny days while we were down there. It was a nice change from the cold of Vermont, though the weather was a little chilly by Florida standards (not to me! When I returned it was snowing in Burlington).

Sam behaved pretty good for the wedding. Hard not to be good when you're passed out asleep. He spent the first hour or so in the stroller. Grandma cheuffered him around a bunch. Then when he fussed I put him in the sling and he was out for the count. By far, my best accessory.

My parents house really turned out nice.

Though my mom will be happy once the decorator's furniture is out there. It's like living in a store...you break it, you buy it. It made having a puking, peeing and pooping baby a little worrisome. But Sam managed to keep his fluids to our clothing and off the couch...mostly.

I spent quite a bit of time taking pictures, so here are a few...(excuse all the hat pictures, but he was just too cute).

Sam and I shared the big beautiful king sized bed. It made nursing and naps so easy. We would both lie down, he would fall asleep and I would just get up and leave him there. No carrying him to a crib or having to move him at all.

It's made the adjustment back a little difficult. You see, when Sam is placed on his back, he almost immediately flips over.

Great if your playing or hanging out...but not when you are being put down to sleep. And it's not because babies shouldn't sleep on their tummy. Sam hasn't figured out how to sleep on his tummy. When he gets there, he doesn't sleep, he just gets mad. Really mad.

The resulting hissy fit wakes him out of any sleepyness he may have been experiencing. To get him to go to sleep I have to hold him on his back. Sometimes he's ok with that, sometimes not. As a result sleep has not been good since we've returned. Pretty much the way it was before we left. So I bought two books on getting babies to sleep. When in doubt, buy a book. Now if Sam would only go to sleep so I had some time to read about how to get him to go to sleep. Hmm. I'll let you know how it works out.
